Mountain Biking in the Catawba Valley

Our area has several bike trails, and several biking stores and repair shops. Rock-N-Road Bicycles is an excellent bike shop located on Highway 127 in Hickory. The staff is friendly and knowledgable.

Because of our abundance of trails, you can leave work, most anywhere in town, and be at a bike trail in less than 15 minutes. The following parks have biking trails:

The Annual Murray’s Mill Bike Ride is a pleasant ride through Eastern Catawba County. There are three routes available-15, 30 or 65 miles. All three follow the same route for the first 11 miles. The route is extremely scenic, and good food is provided along the way.

Brett’s Ride is  a 75 mile trek throughout Catawba County that benefits pediatric cancer research. There are also 10, 32 and 52 mile options. The ride is the first Sunday in October of each year, and the entry fee is $25.

The Bridge to Bridge Incredible Challenge is a bike ride for more advanced athletes. It is the third Sunday in September each year, and the ride goes from Lenoir to Grandfather Mountain.

The Hickory Velo Club is a group that advocates for the rights of all cyclists on the road and on the trail. They meet regularly, and you can find information about joining on their site.
