Hickory Community Theatre is an award-winning theatre in the heart of Downtown Hickory. It is housed in the Old City Hall, and the building is steeped in history.
The theatre hosts a full season of plays, with at least 9 full length shows in addition to children’s shows and one acts. The theatre offers school shows, to encourage our area’s youths to be involved in the arts. There are also “RugBug” plays, which are performed by children for children.
Recently, the theatre put on the show “Frost V/S Nixon” (pictured). Ralph Mangum, seen daily on local news channel WHKY, played Nixon. They often perform new plays, some by local playwright, Molly Bass. Shakespeare is also a mainstay at the theatre. Hickory Community Theatre is a great benefit to our region.
