United Arts Council of Catawba County

The United Arts Council of Catawba County is the local arts advocacy group. They provide information about the creative community in and around  Catawba County. They also provide information about grants and contribution opportunities.

The United Arts Council of Catawba County was formed as the Hickory Arts Council in 1960. They were re-incorporated in 1979 as the Catawba County Council for the Arts and they adopted their newest name in 2006 to reflect their partnerships with local cultural organizations.

The United Arts Council of Catawba County hosts a United Arts Fund campaign each year to raise money for affiliated organizations. They are the largest source of funding for many groups and individual artists in town, and they manage the facilities at the SALT Block. The SALT Block houses the Hickory Museum of Art, the Catawba Science Center, the Western Piedmont Symphony and the Hickory Choral Society. These groups represent a large part of our artistic community.
