Catawba County has much to offer for those looking to make a home in this area. Ideally located, Catawba County has an array of activities to choose from that will please each person’s interests.  For nature lovers, the Catawba County region is home to parks, fishing, and canoeing, nestled away from the bustle of city life. We are a short driving distance from such places as the Blue Ridge Parkway.  Hiking trails through mountains, picnic areas, and waterfalls are all nearby.

For History buffs, Catawba County is a central place to start exploring. In Catawba County, you can delve into the Hickory Museum of Art (second-oldest art museum in North Carolina), Catawba Science Center, Catawba County Museum of History and Historic Murray’s Mill. You can visit one of the two remaining covered bridges in North Carolina at Claremont’s Bunker Hill Covered Bridge.

Retail is not limited in Catawba County. Drive through it and you can’t miss such places as the Hickory Furniture Mart and the Catawba Furniture Mall. There are shopping malls and shopping centers about throughout the area. For small town charm, visit the shops in downtown Hickory, Conover, Newton, or Claremont.

Finding something to do in Catawba County is easy, because of the abundance of choices. Sports fans should take in a Hickory Crawdads’s baseball game. Depending on the season, street festivals can be found in most of the region’s communities.

Housing is readily available for all families and all price ranges. Educational facilities are abundant. The county offers everything from pre-K through college in both private and public schools.
