There are a variety of resources available to those interested in working or starting a business in our region:

The Chamber of Commerce has spent years working with local government to ensure that moving your business to our region is a simple, trouble-free process. They are a great resource, and are willing to help you throughout the relocation process.

The North Carolina Center for Engineering Technologies is a new and exciting program in our area. It provides facilities for applied research in engineering related fields and works with the University of North Carolina system schools, with Appalachian State University providing extensive help and training.This resource also offers residents with a wonderful opportunity to continue their education while providing your business with a more educated workforce.

The Western Piedmont Council of Governments is one of 18 lead regional organizations in North Carolina working with  28 local governments in the region. They research for local governments and also administer small business loans.
The Catawba County Economic Development Corporation focuses on researching and implementing strategies to further economic development in the region. Their site is full of vital information for business owners, including identifying sites and buildings and providing economic information.

The North Carolina Small Business Technology Development Center
exists to help small and mid-sized business owners manage and plan for their futures. Most of their services are free of charge, and all are confidential.

The Catawba Valley Community College Small Business Center
is very useful for anyone looking to relocate their business. They provide an array of information, services, programs, training and networking opportunities to business owners, including:

  • Seminars on starting and growing a small business
  • Courses of study in entrepreneurship and small business accounting
  • One-on-one confidential counseling
  • Targeted referrals to local and regional partners
  • Mentoring programs
  • Networking events
  • Access to center, college and community resources

The mission of the Manufacturing Solutions Center is to help US manufacturers increase sales, improve quality and improve efficiency to create or retain jobs. They strive to bring manufacturing into the New Era of changing technologies, global marketing and production innovations.
